How to use the Instagram Story Downloader
Direct download of other people's stories is not available here: stories are login-gated and expire, and this site does not bypass authentication or expiry. This tool makes an image you own story-ready: it fits your image onto a 1080 × 1920 story canvas, previews it, and lets you download the result.
Steps
- Choose an image file you own or are authorised to use.
- Pick PNG or JPEG output and select Make story image.
- Preview the 1080 × 1920 result. Your whole image stays visible, centred on a dark background.
- Download the story image and upload it to Instagram from your own device.
Supported inputs and outputs
- Inputs: browser-decodable images (PNG, JPEG, WebP; GIF as a still image), 30 MB maximum.
- Output: exactly 1080 × 1920 pixels, PNG or JPEG, produced on a canvas in your browser.
- Fit: the image is scaled to fit inside the canvas without cropping, so nothing is cut off.
- Your file is never uploaded to the server by this tool.
Troubleshooting
- A video file is rejected here because this tool processes still images only. For video stories, use the video file you already have.
- Text near the edges of your image may sit under Instagram's story interface. Keep important text away from the top and bottom edges of the original.
- A JPEG story image is smaller than the PNG version. Use JPEG for photographs and PNG when you need crisp text or graphics.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download someone else's story by link?
No. Stories require login and expire, and this site does not bypass those protections.
Why 1080 × 1920?
That is the standard vertical story canvas size, so the result fills a phone screen without extra cropping in most cases.
Will my image be cropped?
No. The tool fits the whole image inside the canvas and fills the remaining space with a dark background.
